This week I got my log book back from the DVLA changing my MBX officially to a Historic Vehicle, read about that process here. As part of being TAX and MOT exempt they assume the bike is in a roadworthy condition, hopefully it goes without saying my bike is in a very good condition but what you could see was the rear drum pads were worn out. I had replacements on the shelf but never bothered to fit them, but to celebrate its new road legal status and to prep for the Stafford show now was the time to fit them.
I don't have any fancy lifts, so the bike was propped up on its side stand and a car jack with protective rag was used on the rear brake pedal to lift the back wheel. its just a nut and bolt job here so take your time and keep the bike safe.
Brand new EBC pads with fresh springs. Now the brake engages at the start of its adjustment.
My second mission was to fit the NOS round mirrors, these are that green zinc finish and lifts the whole bike, very happy with these.
Lastly I replaced the mudguard decal, but not happy with it and I want to do it again, so I'll save that for another post...
